It worked beautifully for a month. Then one afternoon — it didn't. Before you blame the formula, read this. The cause is almost always fixable.
1. You're applying it to damp skin
The most common culprit. Water dilutes the formula on contact, so the active ingredients never properly settle onto your skin. The fix: pat your underarms completely dry after showering, then apply. Thirty seconds of patience changes everything.
2. You're not using enough — or you're using too much
Too little and there's nothing to work with. Too much and product builds up, trapping old bacteria against your skin. The sweet spot: two to three even swipes. If you've been layering day after day without washing it off fully, start fresh — wash thoroughly, then apply one clean layer.
3. Your stick has bacterial buildup
The surface of any deodorant stick picks up bacteria over time. Every few weeks, wipe the top of the stick with a clean cloth or tissue. It takes ten seconds and it matters.
4. Your body changed, not the product
Stress, diet shifts, hormonal changes, a new medication — all of these change your sweat and your skin chemistry. The deodorant didn't stop working; the job got harder. During those stretches, reapply midday. This is normal, not failure.
5. You switched too fast from antiperspirant
If you came from years of aluminum antiperspirant, your body spent that time with its sweat glands partially blocked. When you switch, perspiration increases for a couple of weeks while things rebalance. It feels like the natural deodorant "isn't working." It's working — your body is adjusting. Give it the full transition.
When it's actually the formula
Sometimes it is the product. If you've fixed every variable above and odor still breaks through within hours, the formula's odor-neutralizing core isn't strong enough for your chemistry. That's a real thing — bodies differ. This is exactly why we built INNERSLF around magnesium hydroxide instead of hoping fragrance would cover it.
Two signature scents. One conscious care ritual. Your move.
