Blue Tansy: The Flower Behind AZUL's Natural Blue

Blue Tansy: The Flower Behind AZUL's Natural Blue

Open a jar of AZUL and the first thing you notice isn't the scent. It's the color — a deep, natural blue that looks like it was poured out of the ocean.

That blue is blue tansy. And no, it's not dye.

What is blue tansy?

Blue tansy is a small yellow flower that grows in Morocco. When its blossoms are steam-distilled, something alchemical happens: a compound called chamazulene forms, and the oil turns a vivid, inky blue. The flower is yellow. The oil is blue. Nature showing off.

It's been used in aromatherapy for years, prized for a scent that's hard to describe and impossible to forget — sweet, herbaceous, a little fruity, deeply calming. The kind of scent that slows your breathing down without asking permission.

Why we put it in AZUL

Most deodorants hide behind fragrance. We wanted AZUL to be the opposite — a scent with a story you can see.

Blue tansy brings the calm. Geranium brings the balance — fresh, green, steady. Together they're herbal and softly floral without ever turning sweet or powdery. This is the scent of slow mornings and clean sheets. Of moving through the world unbothered.

And the blue? That's just the ingredient showing up as itself. No dyes, no theater. What you see is what's in the jar.

The honest truth about "natural" color

A lot of brands color their products to look natural. Green for botanical, blue for ocean-fresh — straight out of a lab. We went the other way: AZUL is blue because blue tansy is blue. The color is the proof of the ingredient, not the marketing of it.
